On February 4th, Wang Jingli, a Chinese teacher of CINB and Liang Jiayi, a volunteer teacher of martial arts organized a Chinese New Year Carnival Game at Rexton Elementary School. The Chinese director of CINB, Dai Zunfeng, the vice principal, Virginia Richard, and all the teachers and students participated in the New Year celebration. The carnival game was a combination of Chinese art and sports, and the two Chinese teachers combined their own teaching characteristics to create a Chinese new year activity in the whole school.
Beautiful New Year Art Exhibition: As the art teacher of school, Wang Jingli taught the whole school students to make paintings and hand-made artworks of Chinese new year, such as the New Year's jacket, “Nian”,“Dragon”, “Chinese lantern”,“Nian nian you yu”etc, which were displayed in the gymnasium. The art and culture are closely connected, in her class, Wang Jingli had a new year presentation to the teachers and students. The students deeply felt the charm of Chinese culture and the lively atmosphere of the festival in the art, and looked forward to their first great Chinese New Year .
Interesting sports activities: Liang Jiayi teaches Chinese martial arts, dance and cheerleading courses at the school. On the occasion of the New Year, combined with the advantages of her major, the students participated in the sports experience of seven sections, including picking up pompoms with chopsticks, spinning handkerchief, frog jumping, kicking shuttlecock, tossing sandbags, practicing Chinese classic dance, playing table tennis, there also was a cultural experience area, such as guess riddles, to find out their own Chinese zodiac. Each booth set up an activity rule, those who completed the game according to the requirements could get “one dollar”, after collecting three yuan, and they could exchange a fortune cookie at the end. Students who have passed all the way could get a New Year red envelope. Experiencing 30 minutes per shift, everyone had a "moving" together in this Chinese New Year. After the event, students of each class could take a group photo with the Chinese New Year mascot and handcraft of new year.
The Vice-principal, Virginia Richard went to the event and spoke highly of it. She also watched the performance videos of the students attending the spring festival gala in Moncton, she was very excited and expressed my gratitude to the two Chinese teachers. As a volunteer of the event, the physical education teacher said: "It's really interesting. The students liked Chinese cultural activities very much and hoped to carry out some of these activities in the future."
In the 2018-2019 school year, Chinese teacher Wang Jingli once cooperated with the art teacher of Evergreen Park Street School to set up the Dragon Club, and created a Chinese dragon with a length of 10 meters together with the teachers and students. During the period, she understood the Canadian art teaching methods and classroom management modes, and combined with their own characteristics, constantly enriched and innovated, so that students not only exercised painting and hand-made skills in her art class, but also felt the richness and diversity of Chinese culture. Liang Jiayi won the National Southern Nanquan and Swordsmanship Championship in 2016 and has performed martial arts tours around the world. With a profound knowledge of martial arts and rich teaching experience, the Confucius Institute students who have led the Northern School District School have held nearly 10 martial arts, dance, and cheerleading events. Chinese teachers are widely praised by the community and teachers and students.
The campus was full of Chinese art works, and interesting Chinese sports activities, the teachers and students of the whole school not only had an experience of Chinese sports from the visual and physical aspects, but also experienced the Chinese culture in the activity. During the period, martial art club students performed various kungfu movements in the Chinese art zone, which attracted many teachers and students to watch, and pushed the event to a climax. The Rexton Elementary School were full of joy to celebrate the Chinese New Year. 雷斯特小学春节艺术体育游园会
当地时间2月4日,新布伦瑞克省孔子学院汉语教师王静丽,武术教师志愿者梁嘉怡在雷斯特小学举办了一场春节艺体游园会。新省孔院中方院长代尊峰,学校副校长Virginia Richard、全体师生参加了这场新年庆祝活动。此次游园会是两位汉语教师分别结合自身特点,发挥各自优势,将中国艺术与体育相结合,在全校掀起了一场中国风。
美轮美奂的新年艺术展:王静丽作为该校艺术老师,带领全校260多名学生制作了以新年为主题,内容丰富的绘画、手工艺术作品,例如新年送福,年年有余,春节小棉袄,瑞雪兆丰年、“猪”事顺遂等,在校园体育馆内分类展出。艺术课中,王静丽老师向全校师生介绍了中国新年,把艺术与文化紧密相连,学生们在艺术中感受中国文化的魅力和节日的热闹氛围,过了一把有滋有味的中国新年。
趣味横生的体育活动:武术专业教师梁嘉怡,在该校教授中国武术、舞蹈和啦啦操课程。新年之际,结合其体育专业的优势,带领全校各班级学生参与体验七项活动挑战赛,其中包括筷子夹球奔跑竞赛、转手帕、手脚协力青蛙跳、踢毽子、投沙袋、长袖舞、打乒乓球,还设有文化体验区猜灯谜、找出自己的属相等。各展台分别设置活动规则,按要求按时间完成者可获得“一元钱”,集齐三元钱,在最后可换取一个幸运饼干。全部顺利通过的学生,可获得新年红包。每班体验30分钟,让大家在这个中国新年一起“动”起来。活动结束后,各班学生可自选中国新年吉祥物一起合影留念。
副校长Virginia Richard走到活动现场,高度评价了此次艺体游园会活动。在观看了学生们参加蒙克顿春晚的表演视频后,非常激动,向两位汉语老师表达了感谢。作为此次活动志愿者的体育老师说:“真的太有意思了,学生们非常喜欢中国的文化活动,希望以后能够多开展一些这样的活动。”
汉语教师王静丽在2018-2019学年,曾与长青街小学的艺术老师合作开设中国龙俱乐部,与师生们一同制作了长10米的中国巨龙。期间了解和学习了加拿大艺术教学方法和课堂管理模式,并结合自身特点,不断丰富和创新,让学生在她的艺术课中不仅锻炼了绘画和手工制作技巧,也感受到中国文化的丰富多彩和魅力。武术教师梁嘉怡,2016年获得国家南拳和剑术总冠军,曾在世界各地进行武术巡演。武术功底深厚,教学经验丰富,已带领北部学区学校的孔院学员开设近10场武术、舞蹈、啦啦操等展演活动。广受社区和在校师生的一致好评。
校园内充满中国喜庆的年味艺术作品,具有趣味性的中国特色体育活动,使全校师生不仅从视觉上、从身体上能够全方位参与到中国新年活动中来,在体验中感受到中国文化的乐趣与魅力。期间武术俱乐部学生在中国艺术展区表演了各种武术动作,吸引了众多师生观看,把活动推向了高潮。雷斯特小学全校师生热热闹闹欢庆中国春节,相信在新的一年里,北部教育学区的汉语教学和文化推广工作将会更加红红火火!
